Donald Glover Just Landed a Major Movie Role
He's joining the family of a major franchise.
Can't get enough of Donald Glover in Atlanta? Well, you're in luck as the actor has been confirmed to fulfill the role of young Lando Calrissian for the upcoming young Han Solo Star Wars spinoff film.
The announcement was officially made on StarWars.com. Lucasfilm revealed exclusively that Glover will join the film's lead Alden Ehrenreich (young Han Solo), in the currently still-untitled Star Wars film.
"These are big schoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money and alterations," Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film's directors said in a joint statement. "Also, we'd like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever."
Glover definitely has some big shoes to fill as — an adult — Lando Calrissian was first played by Billy Dee Williams in both Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
This is just the cheery on top for Glover as it comes off the heels of news that his hit FX series Atlanta has been renewed for a second season.
